How Should ArtSoie Be Stored Between Displays?
Storage should support the textile, limit light and avoid damp, pressure, sharp folds and unsuitable wrapping. A collector-led guide grounded in material, evidence and lived experience.
Inspect before packing
Photograph the front, back, edges and any hand-finished area. Note stains, pulls or persistent folds. Storage should not hide a condition issue that needs professional attention.
Use the supplied method
ArtLoft's edition guidance should state whether the silk is rolled, loosely folded or placed in a particular enclosure. Do not copy a storage method from another textile without checking that it fits this work.
Keep the packing sequence with the care file. A few photographs of the folds, interleaving and final position can prevent a future keeper from forcing the silk into a box the wrong way.
Choose a stable location
Avoid attics, damp basements, direct sun, exterior walls with condensation risk and shelves where heavy objects can crush the package. Keep food and scented products away.
Label without touching the silk
Identify artist, title, edition number and packing date on the enclosure. Keep certificates and paper records in their own protective folder rather than against the textile.
Check during long storage
An occasional condition review can catch moisture, pest activity or shifting folds before the problem grows. Record the check and return the work using the same documented sequence.
