How Does Color Behave on ArtSoie Silk?
Color on silk changes with weave, fold, angle and light instead of remaining visually flat. A collector-led guide grounded in material, evidence and lived experience.
Silk reflects as well as carries color
A matte paper print sends light back differently from silk. On ArtSoie, reflected highlights can sit over printed passages and change their apparent intensity. The effect depends on angle, fold and the room's light.
Dark and pale areas react differently
Deep colors may gain contrast where the silk curves away from the light. Pale sections can look luminous or washed out under a hard source. A balanced installation avoids assuming that brighter lighting always improves the image.
Nearby color can enter the reading
Strongly colored walls, warm lamps and reflective surfaces may cast onto the silk. Test the actual location with the room finishes in place. A neutral gallery photograph cannot predict every domestic interior.
Movement creates temporary compositions
As the silk settles, a fold may join two colors that were separated in the flat image. This does not alter the edition, but it changes the momentary reading. The artist's composition should remain convincing through those temporary shifts.
Approve color with the physical proof
Screens help production teams compare files, but the artist should approve the material proof. The object record should identify the approved version and any limits in color matching rather than promising perfect equivalence across media.
