How Do You Display Hermès Scarves Beside Contemporary Art?
How to keep the scarf's design identity visible without asking paintings, sculpture and silk to compete for the same kind of attention.
Build a relationship, not a hierarchy
Color or motif can connect objects, but avoid presenting the fashion-house name as authority over the neighboring artist. Let each work retain its own label and record.
Compare complete dimensions
Mock up scarf systems, frames and unframed edges. Aligning centers may not work when visual weight and furniture differ.
Use the strictest care condition
If silk requires lower light than another medium, design the shared wall around that limit. Review glare and airflow across the entire grouping.
Label categories clearly
