How Do You Choose the Right Artwork Scale for a Wall?
A measured starting point for relating artwork to wall width, furniture, viewing distance, and the emotional role of a room.
Measure usable wall, not total wall
Subtract doors, switches, sconces, curtains and required clearances. Record the furniture width and the height at which people will see the work seated and standing.
Test a real outline
Tape paper or a removable mock-up at the proposed dimensions. View it from the entry, primary seat and closest circulation path. A scale that works frontally may feel cramped from the side.
Include visual weight
Contrast, color, frame depth and negative space change perceived size. Compare the actual artwork or an accurate image rather than assuming all works with equal dimensions feel equal.
Add operational clearance
Kinetic Silk needs room for responsive edges and documented release. Mark the complete Veatro dimensions and the path the silk takes during handling.
