How Do You Care for an ArtSoie Silk Artwork?
How to handle, wear, display, fold, store, and document a limited-edition silk artwork with confidence.
Read the edition instructions first
ArtSoie editions can differ in print, finish and hand-worked detail. The care sheet supplied with the work takes priority over a general silk tip found online. If the instructions are missing or unclear, pause before handling.
Control light and room exposure
Avoid direct sunlight and intense heat. Keep the work away from moisture, smoke, food preparation and vents that make the silk strike a wall or nearby object. Light exposure accumulates, so rotation may be appropriate even when change is not immediately visible.
Prepare before touching the silk
Clear a clean surface and remove watches, bracelets or rings that may catch. Wash and dry hands unless the edition guidance specifies another method. Support the material rather than lifting from one corner.
Do not clean by instinct
Water, steam, spot cleaners, home pressing and aggressive brushing can change dyes, finish or shape. Photograph the problem, note when it appeared and ask ArtLoft or a qualified textile conservator what to do next.
Keep a short condition history
Take even-light photographs before installation, after release and before storage. Note stains, pulls, persistent folds or changes at contact areas. A simple dated record helps the next keeper understand what is new and what was already present.
